Great quality for the price - These boots have a nice, weathered leather in a simple but timeless style. I have wide feet, and the 7W fit like a glove but with plenty of support. I wore knee-high socks so the top of the boot wouldn't irritate my skin, and I was able to break them in running around town all day. I was considering a similar pair of Frye boots but these were less than half the price and they have the low heel I was looking for - a great deal.

Carol MNice but does not perfect - A basic boot to wear under pants (when you don't want people to know you are wearing mismatched socks). I have a brown pair of Clarks that I love that I bought several years ago. I was looking for a similar black pair. Clarks doesn't make boots like them anymore so after dithering here on Zappos, I decided to try Lassen. This is a well made boot. Nice supple leather, easy to get in and out of with the side zipper. The toe area seemed a little narrow to me at first but it stretched out enough with a day's wear inside the house so it stopped bugging my bunions and little toe calluses. Lots of thick knit lining on the inside so these might be good in cold areas (the lining may contribute to the snugness). Not stiff, easy to walk in. Now the bad: I went to a You-Sing-It Messiah last night and I wore my new black boots under black pants. This was their first trip outside. Everything was fine until about half-way through the Messiah -- the front part of my feet (the balls of my feet) got very tired and a little sore from standing in these boots (you have to stand whenever you are singing your part, SATB). The heel is NOT high so I am not sure why my feet got so sore. The floor was slanted forward so maybe that threw my weight on the balls of my feet. Maybe a lack of padding under the sole? So Lassen Torrens do not get 5 stars due to the comfort issue: you don't get 5 stars unless you can stand in a concert hall wearing them while singing the Messiah for an hour or two and not get sore feet. Sorry, Lassen, them's the rules. Add this to your user friendliness testing.
