The sides are mesh material!My son loves the look of the shoe, but isn't too happy that the sides are mesh-see-through material! Not going to go very well when it rains or on sandy playground.

ColleenStride Rite shoes don't last - I really like the look of this shoe. It's even more snake-like than the picture shows. There are fangs up front, and beady eyes on the side. The sides are mesh, which is probably a cool option for summer. However, this is about the third pair of Stride Rites we've bought that have started to fall apart after just a couple months. In the velcro strap styles, the strap goes. I thought we'd avoid the problem with this shoe since it's a zipper close, but wouldn't you know it? The zipper pull came off!! I'm pretty disgusted with this brand right now. I can't recommend it.

Cool!My 3 year old son loves this reptilian design. ONLY drawback (other than it’s still cold out and he wants to wear this pair of summer shoes NOW) is that the zipper is a pain in the butt to open and close, so he needs help with them.
